Vouchers at Future

Last Updated: 16 April 2024

WHO IS FUTURE PLC?

In short, we’re a global platform for specialist media. We’re a family of publications and companies that seek to be the number one authority in their area of expertise. With publications like Marie Claire, TechRadar, Tom’s Guide and more among us, it’s safe to say our teams are experts.

WHY DO WE OFFER VOUCHERS AT FUTURE PLC?

It was a natural step for us. We have many publications catering to a wide range of interests, hobbies, and professions. Our publications have teams of experts who painstakingly review products and services to find the best tool for the job, and because of this, we feel confident in our recommendations. Find out more about the publications under the Future PLC banner.

We help our users choose which products to buy, and we also help them find a good price using our proprietary eCommerce platform, Hawk. So it’s a natural extension for many of our brands to also give information on discount codes, vouchers and offers, to make sure our users always get the best deal available.

We also have a specialist voucher site in MyVoucherCodes which has been working in the industry since 2006. With nearly two decades of experience in the vouchers space, they cover everything from travel, fashion and food, to days out, keeping fit and consumer technology.

WHICH FUTURE PLC PUBLICATIONS OFFER DISCOUNT CODES?

We want our readers to save money on products and services that are relevant and recommended, and provide discounts that are connected to the publication’s core expertise.

Marie Claire US, Marie Claire UK and Who What Wear focus on providing discounts for premium fashion and beauty brands.

You can find tech, computing and electrical discounts at Tom’s Guide, Tom’s Hardware, and TechRadar. PC Gamer focuses on providing discounts on gaming and peripherals.

Woman&Home, T3 and Ideal Home focus on providing discounts for homeware, kitchenware and lifestyle products.

Golf Monthly and Cycling News supply discounts for golfing, cycling and sportswear.

And finally, MyVoucherCodes and Get Price offer retailer discounts from a range of categories, for those looking to save money across the board.

HOW DO OUR TEAMS SOURCE OUR DISCOUNT CODES?

Each publication has a dedicated team of deal experts, content writers and commercial account managers who work together to bring you discount codes. No third parties are involved in the creation of our discount codes, deals, money-saving tips or any surrounding content.

Our central eCommerce platform, Hawk, enables us to display discount codes, deals and offers simply and effectively. Each publication has a curated list of retailers they trust and recommend to provide discounts for, and they source, write and update all content themselves.

For each publication offering discount codes, the relevant team identifies, tests and uploads relevant discounts and offers to that publication. They also receive updates from affiliate networks and retailers with upcoming offers that will then be tested, verified and added to the publication’s discount code pages. These teams also work closely with the MyVoucherCodes team who advise on best practices and offer insights.

Sometimes, it’s as simple as searching the web for new discount codes to try. In which case, they’ll act exactly as any buyer would: search the retailer’s website for products that are covered by the discount’s terms and conditions, add them to their basket, head to checkout, enter the discount code, and see if it works. If it does, then it gets added to our discount code page for that retailer.

These teams also run checks on newsletters, competitor websites and more, so that our pages are as complete and correct as possible. This means you get all the currently working discount codes on one page.

Our commercial account managers form relationships between the publication they represent, and the retailers or affiliate networks, so that we can get a heads up on upcoming deals, negotiate exclusives that you won’t find anywhere else, and identify new retailers based on what the wider publication think is a reputable brand with strong products or services.

HOW DO WE MAKE MONEY FROM DISCOUNT CODES AND VOUCHERS?

It takes time and effort to source, create, test and update all of our discount code content, and as a result, there are salaries to pay! To do this, we make money in a few ways.

Firstly, we may earn commission from affiliates or retailers if you use one of our discount codes, deals or sales. The amount of money depends on the size of the purchase, and our relationship with the retailer.

When a user finds a code they’d like to use and clicks on it, a browser tab will open up for that retailer’s website, and a cookie will be dropped that lets the retailer or affiliate network know which website they’ve come from. If the user then makes a purchase, we may get some compensation, but this comes from the retailer or affiliate network, never the person using the discount. If you’d like to know more about the different ways we make money at Future PLC, check out our in-depth terms and conditions

HOW DO WE TEST DISCOUNT CODES?

We want to offer the best user experience, and we want to offer discount codes that work. For this reason, each publication’s deal experts test every code before it’s put live. We use real people to test our discount codes because, at the end of the day, it’s real people who’ll be benefitting from them.

A deal expert will head to the retailer’s website, fill their basket with applicable products or services, enter the code at checkout, and if the discount is applied, then it gets added to our site. If it doesn’t work, then we move on to the next code.

Unfortunately, retailers reserve the right to end offers and promotions earlier than initially indicated, and that’s why we test codes, even if the expiry date hasn’t passed yet. If a code doesn’t work, we want to remove it as soon as we possibly can.

We care about the quality of our pages, and that’s why we insist on doing everything in-house, with each publication taking responsibility for its discount code pages without any third-party involvement. This means we can let the experts do what they do best, and offer discounts for retailers they’d want to buy from.

WHAT IF A DISCOUNT CODE DOESN’T WORK?

In these cases, it’s worth checking the terms and conditions of the offer. There can be exempt products, minimum order values, or even in some cases verification if it’s a health worker, student or military discount.

If you’re positive that you’ve met the criteria, and you’re still not satisfied, you can reach out to the publication’s dedicated vouchers customer support team. These can be found on the publication’s discount code information page.
